Medical Terminology (advanced)
This accredited course is by distance learning using a workbook and CD
with mail and email contact with the trainer. Successful
participants will receive a Statement of Attainment from Certificate III
Business Administration (Medical) BSB31107: BSBMED301B Interpret and
Apply Medical Terminology Appropriately. This course includes
everything a student needs for medical terminology from basic to advanced
concepts.
The first part of the course covers basic medical
terminology which includes an introduction to medical prefixes, root
words and suffixes.
The various body systems are then looked at. The systems
covered include: Integumentary, Musculoskeletal, Cardiovascular, Blood
& Lymph, Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Nervous, Optic, Auditory,
Urinary, Reproductive, Obstetrics, Endocrine, Oncology, Psychiatry,
Pharmacology, Clinical Pathology and Radiology.
Exercises on these sections are self corrected from answers
in the back of the book. Assessments
and proof of completion of exercises are sent into the tutor.
Part of the assessment process includes sending in a video
of yourself pronouncing medical words. We have set up a facebook page for
this section, however other methods will be accepted. The last assessment
requires you to listen to a Cd and transcribe four short reports.

Medical Terminology (basic)
This is a non-accredited course which takes in the first part of the
advanced course (see above) covering an introduction to medical prefixes,
root words and suffixes. Exercises on these sections are self corrected
from answers in the back of the book. Assessments and proof of completion
of exercises are sent into the tutor. Part of the assessment process
includes sending in a video of yourself pronouncing medical words. We

You will receive a statement of completion for this course.
At a later date if you wish to upgrade to BSBMED301B Interpret and Apply
Medical Terminology Appropriately you can complete the upgrade course

This course covers the gap between the basic and advanced course.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is provided for the basic course (see
above). In this upgrade course the various body systems are looked at.
